4) Speaking of NC State

You thought we were just going to let that go?

NC State’s 47-24 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday was the ugliest performance a team has had all season long. And their 24-point performance was actually worse that it sounds (if that’s possible).

Let’s run through the numbers. It’s the lowest amount a Division I team has scored since 2008 and the fewest the Wolfpack have scored in the shot clock era. They shot just 16.7 percent for the game, including a lowly 2/28 from three. In fact, the Wolfpack only made three shots in the entire second half.

NC State head coach Kevin Keatts was in a loss for words after the game.

"“I can’t say that I’ve seen this before. Give those guys credit, I think they did a good job but we missed a lot of open shots that I thought we should have made.”"

Virginia Tech’s defense moved from No. 49 to No. 16 in KenPom’s efficiency rankings after the performance, while the Wolfpack’s offense dropped from No. 22 to No. 53.
