NCAA Bracketology: Buy or sell Indiana, Baylor, Temple, and Ohio State

Temple – Sell
If not for Villanova, Temple would be the darlings of Philadelphia basketball. Longtime head coach Fran Dunphy took that program and turned them into a team with national relevance and every year the Owls find themselves in the tournament or on the bubble. The only difference this year is that coach Dunphy is on his last go around with the Owls.
Longtime coach has announced his retirement, and will step down at the end of the season. It would be a great story if the Owls could give their coach one last ride in the NCAA tournament. This year even with a record of 16-6, the Owls are going to have to make a run in the American Conference Tournament. Their resume at this point in the year in a little light. The committee has made it perfectly clear how much they value quadrant 1 wins. Temple does have one with a home court win over Houston. The rest of the quadrant 1 games against the other quality opponents they have played, the Owls have failed the test.
Temple has exhausted all of the potential quad 1 games for the remainder of the season. The rest of their schedule is favorable. If they want any hope to make Dunphy’s final year a memorable one they need to win the remainder of their games. Winning the remainder of their games will set them up to make a deep run in the tournament to potentially get an at large.
At this point Temple does not appear to have a resume nearly as strong as some other bubble teams. The Owls will most likely be sweating one out come selection Sunday.
