1. Can someone else win the Big 12?

Seemingly since the beginning of time, the road to a Big 12 regular-season championship has run through Lawrence, Kansas and seemingly at some point every year we begin to wonder if this is the year the route takes a detour. It is now February and perhaps this is the year the Jayhawks regular-season reign comes to an end, and two teams hoping that detour runs through their campuses are Baylor and Kansas State.

Both teams have been playing well, going a combined 12-2 over the last seven games and each team has eight games on their schedule after this one, and each has one meeting left with the aforementioned Jayhawks. Speaking of the schedule for these two teams, Kansas isn’t the only contender they still have to deal with. This is the first in the home-and-home series between these two, and Baylor has road games at Texas Tech and Iowa State on Feb. 16 and Feb. 19 and finish the regular season at Allen Fieldhouse against Kansas.

Before this matchup, Kansas State knocked off Kansas and the return engagement takes place on Feb. 25. They also host Iowa State on Feb. 16. We may all be wrong once again, but this may be the year the Big 12 title resides in somewhere other than Lawrence.
