Gonzaga – Play of Josh Perkins

Gonzaga had a brief stint as the No. 1 team in the country and are 22-2, they were able to reach those levels at less than full strength, as both junior forward Killian Tille and senior transfer Geno Crandall both returned from injuries on Jan. 5 against Santa Clara. The Bulldogs may be the most well-rounded teams in the country with forwards Rui Hachimura and Brandon Clarke fill out the frontcourt along with Tille and the backcourt of Zach Norvell, Jr. and Josh Perkins is one of the more underrated in the country.

The concern for the Bulldogs moving forward is with its, guards and more specifically, Perkins. The 6-3 native of Colorado is adding 10.8 points per game, but his main role on this team is that of a distributor, his 6.7 assists per game is the 9th highest number in the sport, and the Bulldogs are at their best when Perkins is creating and distributing for his teammates.

However, there are spurts when Perkins becomes a little ball-centric and tries to do too much with the ball, and while that has yet to hurt Gonzaga, if Perkins tries to be the lead singer instead of a guitarist helps the melodies flow, that could cause problems against the stiffer competition Gonzaga stands to face in March.
