Clemson Tigers – NET ranking (42)

After a 1-5 start in the ACC this season, Clemson roared back with four straight wins. Three of them were against the bottom of the conference but the other came at home versus No. 11 Virginia Tech. It was their first signature win of the season and it put the Tigers on the right side of the bubble for once.

But the winning ways ended this past week, getting swept on the road to Miami and Louisville, by a combined two points. Clemson had a shot to win each game at the very end and put themselves in a much better position than they are now.

The loss to the Hurricanes represents the Tigers first real bad loss of the season, being just 11-13 (3-9). Losing to the Cardinals stung because they were just coming off of a 23-point collapse to Duke earlier in the week. It was the perfect time to play them and the Tigers couldn’t take advantage.

A couple of shots last week is the difference between a winning and losing record in the ACC, as well as being safely in versus being right on the cut line. Clemson returns home this week to take on Florida State and Boston College. A loss to the Eagles and the Tigers will be on the outside looking in.
