Big Ten Basketball Power Rankings: Indiana, Ohio State slides towards bottom
By Adam Childs
Maryland had an up and down week. The started the week by upsetting red-hot Purdue by dominating them in the second half after being down at halftime. But they followed that up with another stinker of a first half and could never fully recover and lost by 13.
Bruno Fernando was completely shut down in the first half as he sat for over nine minutes because he let his offensive play affect his defense. At times Maryland looked like they could not stop the Wolverines before the second half. Turnovers would ultimately doom them as they looked horrible in the first half and only made seven field goals.
They travel to Iowa for a big game before finishing the week with Ohio State. They are probably firmly in the tournament right now, but they do not want to put any doubt in the committee’s mind. They could use the win at Iowa who has been playing well lately and they definitely need to beat the Buckeyes.
They have had great inside play so far this year, but they need to shoot better from the outside. When they get that going they are one of the best teams in the Big Ten, but if not they struggle to score.
