Michigan stays at the top spot even though they had a tough loss to Penn State on Tuesday. They showed their toughness by coming back and beating a tough Maryland team at home on Saturday. While the Wolverines have struggled on the road lately, they have been great at home. That bodes well with their matchup against Michigan State on Sunday. The Wolverines will host the Spartans in a huge game that will put one of them in control of the Big Ten.

The problem for Michigan is they have a tough road game on Thursday at Minnesota in a rematch of a game that the Wolverines needed a last-second shot to get the win. If they want the game against Michigan State to be for first place they must win on Thursday night.

Defense continues to carry the Wolverines as they struggle offensively. When they get their offense clicking they are one of the best teams in the country, but they have been in a bit of a slump lately.

So then why do they stay in the top spot? They still have the head to head win over Purdue and Michigan State is trying to start life without Nick Ward. But if the Spartans win on Sunday they will be in this top spot. Either way, it ends up we should be in for a great game on Sunday and whoever wins will have deserved it.
