Creighton Bluejays – Sell

Similar to Providence, the Blue Jays’ current slump has the looks of being insurmountable as far as the NCAA Tournament Committee is concerned.

Granted, Creighton somehow has a NET ranking of 63. Regardless, I can’t buy the Jays considering they have lost half of their 26 games played. Other than defeating Clemson early on and Georgetown on the road, Creighton hasn’t provided me with anything to justify a top 65 ranking.

Although I’m not currently picking up what Ty-Shon Alexander and company are putting down, the Jays still have a slim opportunity to change that. Four of Creighton’s remaining five games are extremely winnable, most of which the Jays will be favored.

The other regular-season contest left for the Jays is a road matchup with Marquette, providing a much-needed resume-building opportunity. Creighton’s current losing streak has diminished any room for error. With their backs against the wall, the Jays need to head to the Big East Tournament having won at least 17 games to earn any NCAA Tournament consideration.

The tides could turn in Omaha if Creighton does its thing from deep and steps up a little bit on the glass. I’ll have to see it to believe it. And even if Creighton gets hot to conclude the regular season, it would need to make some noise at the Garden as well. So, I’ll avoid believing an unlikely scenario and sell the Jays.
