Georgetown Hoyas – Sell

While there isn’t much separating the gutter and top third of the Big East, it is safe to say the Hoyas have finally emerged passed the punching-bag status they’ve been attributed the past three seasons. That comes as no surprise considering Pat Ewing’s group was supposed to make a leap this year.

It isn’t as if Hoya fans are content right now, nor should they be. There is much more talent in Georgetown than a 15-10 (5-7) record indicates. Youth has plagued the Hoyas and pinpoints their inconsistency down the stretch following an 11-3 start this season.

With a NET of 79 and only a road victory over St. Johns to boast, Georgetown’s March Madness hopes have evaporated. A two-week stretch leading to present time in which the Hoyas dropped three out of four games put the nail in the coffin. A hungry Villanova team travels to Capital One Arena on Wednesday as well. So things don’t appear to be trending in the right direction for G-Town.

I’m not buying the Hoyas right now, but I will be once this season concludes. Jessie Covan may be graduating, but Ewing has a lot to talent to work with in freshmen guards James Akinjo and Mac McClung. Freshman forward Josh LeBlanc demonstrates a lot of potential to fill Covan’s lead big-man role as well.

Sell for now, but you’ll be hearing a lot from the Hoyas over the next couple of seasons.
