Big East Basketball: Buy or sell Butler, St. John’s and other bubble teams

Butler Bulldogs – Sell
Like nearly every Big East team’s bubble, the Bulldogs’ will pop after only a few more losses considering Butler has already accumulated 11 total defeats.
Largely in part to wins over Florida, St. John’s, and Seton Hall, Butler’s NET checks in at 49. The Bulldogs have assembled a decent resume thus far. The problem is Butler hasn’t done enough to warrant an at-large bid if it loses at least 14 games.
With road games against Nova and Marquette in the near future, this issue has a better chance than not of coming into play. I’m not saying the Bulldogs can’t pull off one of these upsets; anything can happen in the Big East. It just isn’t something I’m going to bank on.
Personally speaking, a 14-loss Butler team that doesn’t do anything to improve its image over the rest of the regular season shouldn’t make the tournament.
I’m not the one who makes these decisions though. Since Butler has a very high NET, a conference tournament run and at least 19 wins overall may sneak the Bulldogs into March Madness over a Murray State or Lipscomb.
Personally, I am not buying Butler. Sell.
