1. Top teams tied atop the ACC standings

The North Carolina Tar Heels got the weekend’s most impressive win, with a 77-59 victory over the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday, snapping their eight-game winning streak.

The Tar Heels put the rest of the league as well as the nation on notice that they should be considered a national title contender after wins over the Seminoles and the Duke Blue Devils this past week. Freshman Nassir Little had 18 points and eight rebounds off the bench against Florida State, showing that, at the right time, he knows when to turn it on.

The Virginia Cavaliers got a 64-52 victory over the Louisville Cardinals behind a career-high 26 points from De’Andre Hunter. Hunter scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half as the Cavaliers outscored the Cardinals 37-15 in the second frame. Another player that did well was Mamadi Diakite, who put up 14 points, five rebounds, and three blocks.

The Duke Blue Devils bounced back after losing both Zion Williamson and their game against the North Carolina Tar Heels this past Wednesday. They won handily over the Syracuse Orange, 75-65, to remain perfect on the road this season at 7-0.

Barrett, Reddish, and Jones combined to score 61 of the team’s 75 points to overcome the Orange on the road. Interestingly enough, freshman Joey Baker saw five minutes of action in the game, essentially burning the redshirt that had been used on him all season. They haven’t panicked in Durham just yet, but the bench unit scored just four points in their victory over Syracuse.
