9. Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-17, 3-11 B12)

Previous Ranking: No. 9

Don’t think that Oklahoma State is up from No. 10 because they did something right. They really didn’t. They find themselves at number nine purely because of the disaster that is West Virginia basketball. In any other league, Oklahoma State would probably be at the bottom.

So what has been going on in Stillwater? Not much of anything, as a matter of fact.

Other than an impressive win at home against a banged up TCU team, Oklahoma State is just one game back of last place. Not to mention their earlier game against TCU, in which they came all the way back from being down 13 in the second half, to take a seven-point lead with three minutes to go, only to blow that lead almost instantly en route to losing on a J.D. Miller buzzer beater.

What separates Oklahoma State from West Virginia is their effort. There really weren’t many expectations for this OSU team to begin with, and they’ve done a serviceable job of at least staying competitive in the midst of a lowly season. However, much like their last place counterparts, the Cowboys have experienced suspensions and departures of their own. You absolutely need a full squad to compete in the Big 12, and unless you’re TCU, if you lack that, you’re done for.

Hopefully the Cowboys can string some momentum together in these final weeks, in anticipation for next season.
