ACC Basketball: Duke, Wake, and North Carolina headline best uniforms
By Adam Childs
The battle between the Duke and North Carolina extends outside of the games also. They have two of the most iconic uniforms in all of college basketball and they are both great. Duke has made a few changes and occasionally wears alternate uniforms but they all basically have the same basic design and they are smart for not changing it.
The white and blue simple color combination is a good look and it looks good. The font is simple and nice along with the number font also. The stripes around the collar and sleeves give the jersey a nice pop. Another plus for the stripes on the shorts going up the jersey also. Having the D logo on the front of the waistline is a good look also. There is not much to complain about with this uniform and if it weren’t for North Carolina they would be the best in the conference. Either way, they have one of the best uniforms in the country and need to keep it simple.
The only thing that some may argue is they should not do the black uniform because it isn’t one of their colors and they have a valid argument. Lots of teams go to a black uniform just because. Or as uni-watch blogger Paul Lukas would say, black for black sake (bfbs). But I think it works for Duke. The black with the blue is a good look and in this case, it doesn’t look like the forced the color to work for them. I think throwing that in the rotation is a nice touch and overall it gives them three uniforms that look great. You may hate Duke, but they have very nice uniforms.
