1. Virginia Cavaliers (25-2) (13-2 ACC)

Last rank: 2nd (↑1)

The Virginia Cavaliers are back on top the ACC after lurking in the second spot for a few weeks. They have won five games in a row since losing to the Blue Devils back on Feb. 9., with three victories coming over ranked opponents.

They showed the country why they should be considered a No. 1 seed with an 81-51 victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Wednesday night behind 19 points from Ty Jerome and 18 points from De’Andre Hunter. Virginia outrebounded Georgia Tech, 41-21, in the victory as they shot over 50 percent from the floor and from 3-point range in the game. Kyle Guy also had 11 points and was 3-of-3 from behind the arc.

It’s been an impressive run for the Cavaliers but in their rearview looms last year’s finish. A regular season title is within their grasp as March approaches. They’ll need more Jerome, Hunter and Guy down the final stretch to secure the league title.
