Wofford Terriers

Perhaps the biggest surprise mid major team of the year, the Wofford Terriers have everything necessary to make a run similar to the run made by Loyola last year.

The Terriers have reached the top-25, but they remain a sleeper team, even after going unbeaten in SoCon conference play.

Why they can make it to the Final Four

One player: Fletcher Magee.

One of, if not the best pure shooters in the country, Wofford’s senior guard Fletcher Magee has cinderella hero written all over him.

Averaging 20 points per game, Magee has arguable the best scoring ability out of any player in the projected tournament field.

Much like Jimmer Freddette in 2010, Magee’s three-point shooting and game control will be the two biggest factors in the play of Wofford. Magee dropped 36 points in his last game, and will almost certainly do something along the lines of that on the biggest stage possible.

Sleeper Player to Watch

It’s hard to think of any player other than Magee when thinking of Wofford.

However, another senior, Cameron Jackson, has had a big season of his own.

The senior forward is averaging 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game on the season. Considering that most defenses will prioritize Magee over anything else while defending Wofford, the overlooked Jackson will have every opportunity to come up big in a supporting role.

March Madness has never lacked insanity, but this year has the potential to be even more insane. Can you imagine a team like Wofford in the Final Four? Maybe so. It all goes down in just two weeks. Happy March!
