4. Roy Williams, North Carolina Tar Heels

The North Carolina Tar Heels led by head coach Roy Williams have been one surprising bunch given what’s going on with their counterpart in Durham. Williams suffered a Vertigo scare during the second half of the Tar Heels’ game against the Clemson Tigers, but he seems to be fine now.

Williams and North Carolina are currently tied atop the ACC standings at 15-2 with the Virginia Cavaliers, with the Blue Devils in third with a 14-3 record. Williams has his tandem of Luke Maye, Cam Johnson, and freshmen Coby White and Nassir Little playing on another level currently.

White put up 28 points on 6-of-11 shooting from 3-point land in their victory over Clemson on Saturday. Maye put together his eighth double-double in league play with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Johnson had 19 points in the win on 6-of-8 shooting from behind the arc.

Williams has this group playing at a high level at the right time. Looming Saturday is the long-awaited rematch and final game of the ACC schedule for the Tar Heels as they’ll host the Blue Devils. If Williamson plays the entire game and they win, it could be another exclamation in what’s literally been a neck-and-neck rivalry.
