Utah State Aggies

Current Bracketology Status: No. 10 seed.

Utah State is scorching hot. Even though they have not received a ton of love from bracketologists throughout the year, I don’t think that anyone is going to disagree with the idea that they have played extremely well as of late. The Aggies have won 14 of their last 15 games and recently picked up their biggest victory of the year by defending their home court against Nevada. Winning the Mountain West regular-season title might not be the huge accomplishment that it used to be but it still matters and that is what Utah State is going to do.

Behind the star play of Sam Merrill, this team has what it takes to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Regardless of their relatively weak SOS, Utah State has proved time and time again that they will always find a way to win. At some point, winning the games on the schedule has to matter and the Aggies have done just that throughout this season. As long as they do not commit a major slip-up down the rest of this season, Utah State will not only make the NCAA Tournament but be a dangerous team while there.

With a top-50 offense and defense, this team can win in a variety of ways and they can really dominate the glass. The Aggies move the ball remarkably well on offense and rarely make mistakes. To put it simply, this team will not beat itself. The biggest weakness for the team is 3-point defense, so hopefully they match up with a team that does not shoot a ton of trifectas.
