Maryland vs. Nebraska

Nebraska basketball dropped both meetings to Maryland basketball this season. In the 60-45 loss, the Terps dominated the Cornhuskers on the boards 53-42 and points in the paint 30-16. Both Fernando and Smith had double-doubles in that game and they combined for 31 points and 30 rebounds. For the Cornhuskers, Isaiah Roby was all over the place. He scored 20 points, pulled down 14 rebounds, had five blocks and two steals. James Palmer Jr. had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists in the loss. He had 26 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and four assists in the 74-72 loss the first time they played.

The Cornhuskers earned key wins against Seton Hall, Clemson, Creighton, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Indiana and their 93-91 overtime victory over Iowa on their senior night. They overcame a nine-point deficit, 73-65, and tied the game at 80 apiece to send the game to overtime. Their key losses were against Texas Tech, Iowa, Michigan State and both meetings with Maryland and Purdue. If they split those two-game series’, then they probably would have been in Better shape in the Big Ten.

Clearly, Nebraska will go as far as Palmer Jr. is going to take them. The senior from Upper Marlboro, Md., is going to want revenge against his home state school if he gets the chance to play them again. He needs to have one spectacular game for the Cornhuskers to get the win that counts against the Terps. Honestly, Nebraska has the better team. The Cornhuskers would likely give the Terps more of a fight. If the Terps want to play anybody, it would be Rutgers. The more entertaining game would be Maryland basketball and Nebraska basketball.
