Players to watch

Cameron Delaney, Sam Houston State: The 6-foot-4 senior guard made huge improvements from a year ago. Delaney, who averaged 13.6 points overall, stepped up his game during conference play as he averaged 15.6 points along with 6.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.9 triples while shooting 50.6% from the field as well as a league-best 49.1% from the 3-point line. The 2019 Conference Player of the Year ranked in the top-10 of the league in several other categories.

Marlain Veal, SE Louisiana: The 5-foot-9 point guard earned his third All-Conference honor this year as he was a first-team selection. Veal is averaging 17 points, 3.9 assists, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.5 treys while shooting 37.6% from the field and 36.5% from beyond the arc.

Moses Greenwood, SE Louisiana: The 6-foot-7 senior forward has been a solid offensive rebounder since his sophomore campaign and is now a reliable low-post scorer and defender. He is averaging 17. 3 points along with 7.5 rebounds (2.5 offensive) along with one steal and 1.1 blocks.

Nick Garth, Lamar: Garth is a scorer who loves the 3-point line. He is averaging 16.6 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.7 treys, and 1.3 steals while shooting 42.3 % from the field and 49.4% from long distance.

Kai Mitchell, Sam Houston State: The 6-foot-7 was one of the big men in the league. He showed decent touch around the rim and is a good rebounder as well as rim-protector. The Hutchinson CC transfer earned Newcomer of the Year honors as he is averaging 12 points and 7.3 rebounds while shooting 54.6% from the field for the year.
