Fletcher Magee, Wofford

Magee has been a known commodity among die-hard college basketball fans since he led Wofford to an upset win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill last season, but very people outside of Spartanburg, South Carolina know the name Fletcher Magee.

That will change soon.

Magee is the best player on perhaps the best mid-major outside of Gonzaga in Wofford, who went a perfect 21-0 in SoCon play and posted a 29-4 overall record this season. Three of those losses were also to ranked teams, so it’s not like the Terriers have been playing against lesser competition.

The senior sharpshooter has been productive against Power 5 competition this year, scoring at least 19 points in games against UNC, Oklahoma, and Mississippi State.

That shooting ability is what makes Magee so special. He’s three made three-pointers away from being the NCAA career leader in that category and makes them in a number of ways. Sure, he’ll knock down the spot-up jumper, but Magee’s shots often come on the move and involve ridiculous acrobatics.

Wofford is good enough to win a couple of games in the tournament and Magee is a must-watch player. If the Terriers play mid-major darling this season, Magee will become one of the tournament’s biggest names.
