Gonzaga Bulldogs

SELL

Let’s first start this by saying that Gonzaga could beat any one in the country. Don’t buy into the fact that they just have a good record because of the conference they play in. They beat Duke and Tennessee earlier in the year and played North Carolina tough. They are a great team and maybe one of the best that Mark Few has had during his run as coach of the Bulldogs.

The problem with the Bulldogs is the region they got stuck in. This is arguably the toughest region and they did Gonzaga no favors. They could run into Syracuse in the second round. The zone that the Orange uses has been known to cause many a teams problems in the tournament. If they get through that they would run into more than likely a Marquette team that score a ton of points or a Florida State team that made a great run in the ACC tournament. Either team would be a tough game for the Bulldogs.

The Elite Eight would present Michigan, Nevada, Buffalo or Texas Tech. All four of those teams have good enough teams to make it to the Final Four. They would all present problems for the Bulldogs. Gonzaga has the talent to beat any one of those teams, but winning three straight games against that type of competition will be tough.

Just like Virginia, many people are going to be betting against Gonzaga and with the region they are in they may be right. If the Bulldogs were in any other region I would say “buy: on them, but not in the West. But if they make it out of the region they could be playing the best basketball in the tournament. They would definitely turn from a “sell” into a “buy” team. Don’t sell on their talent, but sell on their chances of making the Final Four.
