Is this one of Roy Williams’ best teams?

This is Roy Williams’ 16th season in charge of his alma mater. To say he’s had some good teams would be a gross understatement. Williams has coached three national championship teams in 2005, 2009 and 2017. He’s also coached some great players during his time at UNC including Tyler Hansbrough, Harrison Barnes, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson, Joel Berry and a host of others.

Just three years ago, the Tar Heels on a miraculous last-second shot to fall to Villanova in the national championship. The following season, North Carolina won it all. And Williams doesn’t win with one-and-done players.

This season, UNC features a deep and balanced team led by the dependable and clutch Luke Maye. Maye has hit some big shots during his career, including one to sink Kentucky two years ago to advance to the Final Four. Maye averages a double-double and is third on the team in scoring behind sharpshooter Cam Johnson and electrifying freshman point guard Coby White. White had a tremendous freshman season and can take over games.

This team beat Duke twice and forget about how the Heels won both games due to Zion Williamson being out. UNC almost beat Duke a third time in ACC Tournament with Williamson on the floor for the Blue Devils.

The Tar Heels are good. Really good. And they can win it all.
