NCAA Tournament 2019: Gonzaga, Villanova and LSU among teams to avoid picking
Wofford: 7 seed in the Midwest
Wofford is a lower seeded team that I could see a lot of people falling in love with and backing to make a big run in the tournament. They are a great story, going undefeated in conference play, ending the season ranked, and their win against North Carolina last season is likely still in the back of everyone’s minds when looking at the seven seed in the Midwest region. Unfortunately, they are no longer flying under the radar and will be a team no one over looks.
Wofford is 0-3 against top 25 teams this season and is more likely to lose to Seton Hall in the first round than make any kind of run past the round of 32. They are a solid team, but they have not shown the ability to beat any one elite this season. Seton Hall is 4-3 against top 25 opponents with wins over Villanova, Marquette, Maryland, and Kentucky, the team likely to be lying in wait for the winner of the 7-10 match up.
Don’t put a team in your Elite Eight or farther that could very realistically lose in the first round. As for making a pick for the Sweet Sixteen, Seton Hall is a better bet if you lack confidence in Kentucky.
