No. 10 seed: Seton Hall Pirates

Entering the tournament each team wants to be playing their best basketball of the season. Seton Hall is peaking at the right time as they took Villanova to the wire in the Big East championship game. The Pirates have come into their own this year after inconsistent play early in the season. Coming into the tournament, the Pirates have beaten Kentucky, St. John’s and Marquette. The Pirates were also destroyed at Nebraska early in the season and were swept by DePaul.

Head Coach Kevin Willard had to do a tremendous coaching job to get this team to the NCAA tournament. The Pirates lost most of their scoring from a year ago, and this year added some transfers and junior guard Myles Powell took his play up a level that no one expected. Powell is an elite scorer and can beat teams by himself. When Seton Hall is playing well like they are now, Powell must continue his elite play and guards Quincy McKnight and Myles Cale need to be the great complimentary pieces they have been. The one downfall for Seton Hall is their big men Sandro Mamukelashvili and Taurean Thompson have a penchant to get into early foul trouble.

Wofford has been a tremendous story this year. They went undefeated in their conference at 21-0 have the longest winning streak in the country at 20 games and they have an offense that relies on the three-point basket. The Terriers are led by Fletcher Magee who is three, three-point makes away from the record. Wofford has played some high major teams in North Carolina, Kansas, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, and South Carolina. The only team they beat out of the group was South Carolina.

Do not let that sway you, this game is going to be a battle and Wofford can blow this game wide open. Seton Hall has more height and one of the most electric players in the country. Wofford can play and they are the best of the mid-major crop in the tournament. Unfortunately for them, the committee did them no favors with their pairing with Seton Hall. If Wofford can make some threes early and get the big men in foul trouble they may win going away, but this game does have major upset potential.
