40. Jordan Bone – Tennessee

2018-19 stats: 13.5 ppg 3.1 rpg 6.0 apg

As great as the frontcourt has been for the Vols this season, the improved play from the backcourt is why the team is a national title contender. Bone, in particular, has been outstanding, viewed as one of the top point guards in the country. The junior has four games of at least 10 assists and has an impressive assist/turnover rate of around 3/1. Add to the fact that he usually produces double-digit scoring nights, Bone just has been fantastic this year.

39. Zavier Simpson – Michigan

2018-19 stats: 9.2 ppg 4.9 rpg 6.6 apg

The top passer in the Big Ten, Simpson has become an underrated elite point guard this season. The junior fills up the stat sheet as well, including posting a triple-double in a win against Ohio State, while coming close several other times. Most importantly, he’s also the owner of a hook shot that isn’t seen anymore in basketball, let alone from a point guard.

38. Bruno Fernando – Maryland

2018-19 stats: 13.7 ppg 10.4 rpg 2.0 apg

The sophomore has shown why he was viewed as an NBA Draft prospect a year ago, dominating on the boards all year long. Fernando went through a stretch of seven straight games with a double-double and improved both his passing and overall defense. A big tournament by him and he could become a solid first round pick.

37. Quinndary Weatherspoon – Mississippi State

2018-19 stats: 18.2 ppg 4.7 rpg 2.8 apg

On a team with good collective talent, it was Weatherspoon who became that go-to scorer for the Bulldogs. It worked out well for the team, especially since Quinndary’s brother Nick has been suspended from the team and is still out for the NCAA Tournament. The eligible Weatherspoon, who has five different games of at least 27 points, will have to continue coming through.

36. Caleb Martin – Nevada

2018-19 stats: 19.2 ppg 5.1 rpg 2.9 apg

The former Mountain West Player of the Year had his highest scoring season as a senior, even though it was less efficient. He went for 20+ in 11 of 13 games in a stretch where the Wolf Pack was struggling as a team. While his brother Cody is more of a passer between the twins, Caleb is a pure scorer who’ll look to take the program to their first-ever Elite Eight appearance,

35. Shizz Alston – Temple

2018-19 stats: 19.7 ppg 2.7 rpg 5.0 apg

It’s been a great senior season for Alston, leading the Owls in both points and assists to propel them into the NCAA Tournament. He’s hot as well, heading into the Big Dance having scored 20+ eight straight times. One of them was a 34-point effort in a win over UConn.

34. Breein Tyree – Ole Miss

2018-19 stats: 18.1 ppg 3.0 rpg 2.8 apg

The junior guard averaged nearly eight more points from the season prior in a breakout campaign. Like Davis, Tyree also can put points on the board in a hurry and is a three-point marksman. For the Rebels to advance and cause some problems, the lead duo has to come through.

33. Tyus Battle – Syracuse

2018-19 stats: 17.3 ppg 2.2 rpg 2.5 apg

The top scorer for the Orange, Battle is heavily relied upon to score for the team who lack playmakers, especially with point guard Frank Howard battling injuries this season. But the junior guard always comes through, including going for 32 points in the massive upset win over Duke. Battle himself is also battling an injury but should be good to go.

32. Tre Jones – Duke

2018-19 stats: 9.3 ppg 3.8 rpg 5.3 apg

The fourth five-star freshman recruit, Jones doesn’t get the credit he deserves for leading the No. 1 overall seed to where they’re at now. Besides being a quality facilitator, the younger brother of former Blue Devil Tyus Jones is one of the best defenders in all of college basketball. Without him, Duke would not be as good – regardless of how well the other freshmen play.

31. CJ Massinburg – Buffalo

2018-19 stats: 18.3 ppg 6.6 rpg 3.0 apg

The best player on the best team in the conference, Massinburg was awarded MAC Player of the Year. He showed signs last season but this year he’s an explosive scorer, evident by that 43-point effort in the Bulls overtime road win at West Virginia. The senior guard hasn’t scored that much since but regularly puts up around 20 each night, with a lot of it coming from the three-point line.
