Murray State Basketball: 3 reactions from their victory over Marquette
1. More than just Morant on the floor
One good thing about the Ja Morant Show is it’s got a strong supporting cast to go along with what he brings. The Racers aren’t necessarily a deep squad but they’ve got a talented starting lineup that knows how to play together. In their won over the Golden Eagles, they were led in scoring by freshman Tevin Brown. He put up 19 points on 5-of-9 shooting from behind the arc to go along with six rebounds.
OVC Defensive Player of the Year Shaq Buchanan scored eight of his 14 points in the second half to go along with six rebounds and three steals. On the interior, they’ve got another freshman in K.J. Williams as well. He scored 16 points against Marquette on an efficient 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Alongside Williams in the interior, there’s also Darnell Cowart, who put up nine points and eight rebounds (5 offensive) in the victory.
With Morant leading the charge, this team looks poised to make a deep run in the tournament. Florida State is a deep team with their own strengths and will challenge them but with his supporting cast, Morant will look to shock the world once again.
