Texas Tech Basketball: Keys for Round of 64 matchup vs Northern Kentucky
3. Feed the ball to Davide Moretti
While Culver has done a lot for the Red Raiders on offense, he hasn’t quite been alone.
After losing six of their tip eight scorers from last season, Texas Tech has needed production from surprise areas in order to reach the success that they have had this season.
One of those areas has been Davide Moretti. The Italian sophomore is averaging 11.6 points per game on the season, and was a member of the Third Team all Big 12.
Moretti’s rise in production has been a major area of success for the Red Raiders, and Moretti has been hot lately.
In his past five games, he’s scored in double-digits, reaching 20 points in two of those games, both wins.
The offense will, and should, run through Culver, but Moretti is catching fire at the right time, and serves as a brilliant supporting scorer to Culver.
Moretti has the ability to hit clutch shots, especially from behind the arc, and will be able to take a load of pressure off of the shoulders of Culver. Culver can’t carry Texas Tech on his own, so the aid of Moretti will be a big factor in the success of Texas Tech in this tournament.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders’ journey will begin on Friday, as they will tip off their NCAA Tournament campaign against fourteen seed Northern Kentucky. After a very successful regular season, Texas Tech will look cap off their efforts with a trip to the Final Four.
