Gabe Kalscheur – Minnesota

The day started off just how everyone expected – with Minnesota mostly dominating Louisville and Gophers freshman Gabe Kalscheur going off for nearly a career-high 24 points.

He drained five of his 11 three’s, went 8-14 overall from the field, and made a number of timely baskets to keep the Cardinals at arm’s length.

The Gophers did us all a favor by ruining the majority of America’s brackets after the first game so that we are spared an endless slew of “but my bracket” throughout the weekend.

Florida’s Resolve?

I was all prepared to write this section about the Cardiac Wolf Pack pulling off more March Madness comeback, but, alas, Nevada couldn’t quite pull off one last job.

So, instead, I’m writing this section about Florida and their senior leaders KeVaughn Allen, Kevarrius Harris, and Jalen Hudson who made a number of clutch free throws down the stretch to hold off Nevada.

The Wolf Pack came storming back from 18-points down in the second half, but two points down was the best they could do. Honestly, neither of these teams deserved to win this ugly game. I personally would just rather watch a very talented but frustrating mid-major in the next round than a mediocre power conference team.
