NCAA Tournament: Virginia, Tennessee, Purdue and Oregon remain in South Region
Key Players
De’Andre Hunter
Sophomore forward De’Andre Hunter is the best NBA prospect left in the region, but he has a tendency to disappear every so often on the offensive end. He needs to come out of the gates as the number one option for Virginia and demand the ball. He has the ability to get to the rim and shoot from mid-range and three. He is the ACC defensive player of the year, the best defender on arguably the best defense in the country. He is the most reliable player on the Cavaliers and with the NBA calling, he will want to make a lasting final impression.
Carsen Edwards
Purdue has Carsen Edwards to thank for their tournament run so far. The junior guard played well against Old Dominion, but he truly broke out against Villanova. He put up 42 points on 12-21 shooting and 9-16 from three. He has played 79 out of the possible 80 minutes through two rounds. The tournament is often defined by hot shooters and elite guard performances, and Edwards has the potential to become a March legend if he continues his scoring ways against Tennessee.
Admiral Schofield
Grant Williams is the best player for Tennessee, but the senior leadership of Admiral Schofield is what takes this team from good to great. The Volunteers have the best duo in the region if Schofield can stay on the court. While providing nineteen points against Iowa, Schofield was not in the game in the final minutes of regulation and into overtime due to foul trouble. Tennessee will need him on the floor against Purdue.
