Evan Mobley – Temecula, CA

C | 6-foot-11 | 200 lbs | No. 1 overall

Evan Mobley is the top-rated player in the class for a reason. An extremely mobile and well-built big man, he has the ability to absolutely dominate the paint. In the post, Mobley has an array of moves that he can use to score and he is also a terror on the glass. He is also developing as a jump shooter so the potential for him to be knocking down 3-pointers at the college level is certainly there even if he is not doing that with consistency at the moment (only attempted four threes in the 13 Adidas Gauntlet games). He understands the game extremely well and does not force the issue all that often, either, as he is a capable passer out of the post.

On the defensive end of the floor, Mobley might not be an elite-level rim-protector but he definitely holds his own. He uses his size to alter shots around the hoop and also possesses the versatility to switch on occasion. For a young big man, Mobley checks all of the boxes of a future star. He already has the abilities needed to dominate the paint, defend at a relatively high level, and rebound tremendously well with upside in regards to perimeter shooting. Oh, and his physical tools and athleticism are outstanding. He is highly regarded for good reason.

In 13 contests with Compton Magic on the Adidas Gauntlet last summer, Mobley flashed his all-around game. He averaged 14.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in just 21.8 minutes per game while shooting a ridiculous 84.0% from the field. At this point in time, it seems as though Mobley is very likely to attend USC. Of the 10 Crystal Ball predictions for his commitment, well…all of them are for the Trojans. It definitely doesn’t hurt that his brother is going to start his career with USC in the fall.
