What are the chances that Texas Tech makes another run to the Final Four?

To put it lightly, not great.

Texas Tech lost a ton of talent last season but was able to make a big rebound.

Unfortunately, the majority of that rebound was facilitated by the rise of Jarrett Culver. However, what happened with Culver’s rise was a rise with his draft stock. Culver is a projected top-five pick, and will almost certainly be declaring for the draft following the Final Four.

In addition to Culver’s inevitable departure, seniors Matt Mooney and Tariq Owens will be done after just one season in Lubbock.

Like last season, Texas Tech will only return one starter. That starter is Davide Moretti.

While a Culver-like rise isn’t going to happen, Moretti is a good building block for next season. Around Moretti will be freshman Kyler Edwards, who has shown flashes of brilliance.

Texas Tech will have a chance to rebound with their recruiting, but it is essentially championship or bust for Texas Tech, as a Final Four repeat next season would be about ten times as surprising as this seasons Final Four was.

It certainly is not impossible, especially with a head coach as brilliant as Chris Beard, but I don’t love the odds of Texas Tech making the final four next season.
