Oregon Ducks

Sticking with the west coast, Oregon is also one of the final schools in the running to land Cassius Stanley. With head coach Dana Altman at the helm, the Ducks have been one of the most consistent programs in the country with regards to landing elite-level recruits. In fact, Oregon has landed a top-25 recruiting class nationally in each of the last five seasons and it seems extremely likely that the streak will continue for the 2019 class. Behind four early commits, the Ducks currently hold the No. 11 class in the country.

Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that Coach Altman has performed well in March with his top recruits. Oregon has reached the NCAA Tournament in six of the last seven seasons and can boast four trips to at least the Sweet 16 (two ended there, one ended in the Elite Eight, and one ended in the Final Four). It is really hard to argue with how successful the Ducks have been in recent years as they have emerged as one of the better programs in the nation. Staying out west could also be on Stanley’s mind, even if Eugene is a long way from LA.

Heading into next season, which could be Stanley’s only at the college level, Oregon seems poised to have a very strong squad. They will return the majority of their roster from the Sweet 16 run this past season (Bol Bol will likely leave early but he was already injured for the run) and that includes star lead guard Payton Pritchard and shot-blocking phenom Kenny Wooten. Stanley would immediately find minutes on the wing and could take the team to the next level. With Stanley in tow, the Ducks would be a preseason top-25 team in the nation.

Oregon features more coaching stability than UCLA right now (okay, I guess everyone does) and has a great combination of returning veterans and intriguing freshmen coming in as well. As of right now, the Ducks seem set in the frontcourt but could use another piece in the backcourt, especially if Louis King elects to turn pro. Landing Cassius Stanley would be massive for improving their hopes of a deep run in 2019-20.
