Virginia

The most consistent team in all of college basketball this season only losing three games on the season. On paper, their 33 wins jump out and as well as them along with North Carolina, being ACC Regular season champions.  However, the played a relatively weak non-conference schedule, they didn’t reach the ACC tournament title game, and Duke has given teams the blueprint to beat them. Though, observers can not take away how efficient they have played all season and their ability to win close games against quality opponents.

Is it true that they had the easiest path to the Final Four out of the four participants? More than likely yes, but the Cavaliers after being the first #1 seed to lose to a #16 seed in last year’s tournament has done a remarkable job in this year’s tournament in advancing to the Final Four for the first time since 1984. Their head coach, Tony Bennett has done an excellent job this season in getting his players to focus from start to finish.

Virginia has a potential NBA lottery pick in De’Andre Hunter playing for them as well as veteran upperclassmen leading the charge in juniors Kyle Guy, Ty Jerome, and Mamadi Diakite. The Cavaliers go eight deep and they like Michigan State have a good blend of defensive and offensive efficiency.  Virginia survived a very close game against Purdue in the Elite Eight but they showed maturity, focus, and determination in the overtime victory over the Boilermakers. The Cavaliers has as good as chance as any to win the national championship.
