Tyler Cook – Iowa

2019 NCAA Tournament Stats: 8.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 3.0 APG
2018-19 Season Stats: 14.5 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 51 percent shooter from the field

Like Michigan State’s Nick Ward, Iowa’s Tyler Cook declared for the draft last season and withdrew to play another year. After losing in the second round to Tennessee, Cook most likely is gone having fulfilled his senior season with the Hawkeyes. He has not made an official announcement yet. He started 33 games in 2018 and led the Hawkeyes in points and rebounds. He was named a Second-team All-Big Ten selection by the media and third team by the coaches, USBWA All-District and NABC Second Team All-District honoree and he was voted to the 2K Empire Classic All-Tournament Team.

Looking at Tyler Cook on film, he has a nice mid-range jumper, he can back down his defender to score, face up and put the ball on the floor. His production is going to be missed for the Hawkeyes. At six-foot-nine, 250 pounds, he has the size and length of an NBA forward and the fact that he can do multiple things in the post will keep him on many teams’ radars. He will be one of three senior forwards that Iowa is going to lose depth wise so it will be interesting to see how they make up for those bodies in the frontcourt.

He’s another guy I’ll be interested in as the NBA Draft process goes along. As I said, he has an NBA body that could translate if he is in the right system. A system that utilizes frontcourt players really well.
