1. Replacing Jarrett Culver

Even though Texas Tech lost their leading scorer in Keenan Evans and first-round pick Zhaire Smith from the season prior, there was the belief that Culver would become that go-to guy for the team.

He was that and more, averaging 18.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 3.7 apg (each led the team) for the national runner-up. But with him likely off to the NBA, how will the Red Raiders replace all of that production?

Davide Moretti is the lone double-digit scorer coming back next year but he’s not a volume shooting, taking just seven shots a game per 31.6 mpg this season. Rising sophomore Kyler Edwards scored just 5.5 ppg but shot 45% from deep and will have a lot of shots coming his way.

But look for Khavon Moore to eventually be the next Red Raiders star. The former top-50 recruit missed all of this past season with an injury and really wasn’t going to be featured much anyways with both Culver and Brandone Francis on the wings. But the 6’7 forward is immensely talented and can play multiple positions on the court. It might not be next year but this team does have a freshman forward who’ll make a big impact.

Another player to keep an eye on is combo guard Jahmius Ramsey, the highest-ranked prospect to ever come to Texas Tech. He could very easily start alongside Moretti from day one in the backcourt or be a sixth man.

Unlike a year ago at this time, there doesn’t seem to be a clear-cut pick to grow into a star for the next season. Look for it to be a collective effort to not only replace what Culver did but also the seniors that are departing as well.
