Michigan Wolverines

Michigan is one of the toughest teams in the country to gauge heading into next season. This is due to the fact that leading scorers Ignas Brazdeikis, Jordan Poole, and Charles Matthews are all testing the NBA Draft waters with the potential to return to school. If all or two of them decide that they need at least one more year at the collegiate level, then the Wolverines will start this next season in the preseason top-5. With that said, it is no sure thing that any of them will return. Regardless of whether or not they come back to school, though, Lester Quinones is a recruiting priority for the program.

Throughout this past season, Michigan lacked depth on the wing and Quinones would instantly help in that part of the rotation. Coach Beilein has built an incredibly strong program over the past few years behind elite defense and an incredibly detailed offense. He is one of the best “X’s and O’s” leaders in the nation and that is one of the biggest reasons why the Wolverines have been successful over the past few years. If Quinones were to commit to playing in Ann Arbor, one would expect that he would be a featured scorer in the rotation due to his ability to let it fly from deep.

In an interview with Prep Circuit in early February, Quinones discussed his recruitment and spoke on Michigan’s pitch:

"“Coach Yaklich has been recruiting me for a good amount of time and now Coach Beilein has started to text and call me. We run a similar offense at IMG to what they run at Michigan and I really like it. They are one of the best teams in the country and it’s looking like they will have some guys leave for the NBA from there. Getting to play a lot of minutes there at a program like Michigan is a great opportunity.”"

I would also like to mention that nobody should be worried about the fact that Quinones lacks a scholarship offer from Michigan at this point in time. Coach Beilein typically holds off on offering any prospect prior to them visiting campus and that will be changing quite soon. Quinones is planning on visiting Michigan from April 29-30 and most experts are expecting that an offer will come during or shortly after.
