Kansas Jayhawks

With so many moving pieces, Bill Self and the Jayhawks have to move forward to get additional talent for the 2019-20 season. They know that starting power forward Dedric Lawson won’t be around for next year and there’s a possibility that either/both Devon Dotson or Quentin Grimes will be in the NBA as well.

Kansas does know that starting center Udoka Azubuike will be back for his final season, immediately boosting the frontcourt. But he only plays the five-spot, so it wouldn’t have a big effect on Holyfield, who normally plays at the four. However, the unknown of Silvio De Sousa will be the big factor for any forward transfer to consider. He’s appealing his two-year suspension to play next season and he would certainly get a good amount of minutes if able.

For Holyfield though, it would still be a tough place to pass up, going from a little known mid-major school to the premier program in the entire region in Kansas, where he’d at least be a rotation player. The Jayhawks also have better odds of making the Big Dance than Illinois and others on the list. But playing time would be an issue, especially if De Sousa becomes eligible.
