Jaden McDaniels – #6

Jaden McDaniels is going to be a coaches worst nightmare coming into next season. He might not be the most talented player in this class but, there might not be a player in college that can guard him by them self. He is 6’11” and can shoot a 3 with some consistency.  But, on top of that, he can also handle the ball which means if you get on him too much he is going to blow past you, and at his height good luck.

He has a brother that played at San Diego State so his family already knows the college game, and I am sure Jalen has tried to help his brother learn what the next level will be like. He has been very quiet on the recruiting path though, not giving people much insight on what he is thinking. The list has been trimmed to in my opinion to 3 in Kentucky, San Diego State, and Washington.

Al I have to say for Kentucky is John Calipari, his national title speaks for itself along with the numerous first round picks he has produced. Washington is his home state school. If he wants his family to come watch his games or his friends it would definitely help to stay home.

Isaiah Stewart is also committed to go play for the Huskies, and this could have the same impact Wiseman has for Achiuwa at Memphis. San Diego State, this is the school that I think could be in trouble. Their biggest pitch was to play with his brother, but now he has declared for the draft. It might be more than just Jalen they lost with that declaration.

Prediction – Washington

Much like I said with Achiuwa I think a versatile big will want to play for alongside of a dominant center. I would also say that Kentucky although they have more to offer him for his basketball career, no offense to Washington, is just to far to go. We have seen recently recruits stay home on the west coast than travel across the country for college. I think signing McDaniels will put the Huskies back in the tournament with Stewart and him up front, but they do not have much more help.

As much as these last few weeks of commitments might be lacking in quantity, the quality it there. I love all of these recruits for different reasons. I also love that there is different schools leading the charge for them, you do not see a lot of Kentucky or Duke with these kids, but they do not seem to be the favorites to land many of these recruits.

This year is going to be a fun one as the talent is so evenly distributed. So many of the top schools have a couple of top recruits, but not an insane amount. When you look more at the top you also notice some different schools. Georgia has signed a top 10 recruit, Memphis, Washington, and Arizona schools that typically do not sign the creme of the crop this year are.
