NCAA Basketball: Top 5 options for transfer Jordan Brown
By Chris Kern
4. Ohio State
Thad Matta was a great coach at Ohio State for such a long time, but Chris Holtman has come in and he hasn’t missed a beat. He has a record of 45-26 in his first two seasons and was eliminated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in each of those seasons.
They were a five seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament before dropping to an 11 seed in the 2019 Tournament. That is still a terrific first two seasons in Columbus after they had just a 17-15 record in Thad Matta’s final season in 2016-17.
The Buckeyes have some good players who will be intriguing for Jordan Brown to play alongside. The top guy is clearly their star forward, Kaleb Wesson. He is testing the NBA Draft process so it’s possible that he isn’t back for the 2019-20 season, let alone the 2020-21 season when Brown would be eligible, but he is a talented player and these two would form one of the best frontcourt duos in the nation.
Even if Wesson isn’t on board this is still a team that will have talented players that could attract Brown. Players such as Luther Muhammad and Kyle Young had good seasons and could be key pieces on a Big Ten contender.
The Buckeyes also bring in the best recruiting class in the conference which includes three top 45 recruits according to 247sports. The highest ranked in the class is point guard DJ Carton who is the 29th ranked player. When you have three players that highly ranked it’s always possible they’re one-and-done in college, but if he can continue to bring in top recruiting classes then Brown should be excited about the possibility of playing in Columbus.
