NCAA Basketball: Top 5 options for graduate transfer Admon Gilder
By Chris Kern
2. Texas Tech
The Texas Tech Red Raiders have become a fantastic basketball program in just a short time under head coach Chris Beard. They advanced to the Elite Eight in 2017-18 before losing in the national title game this past season. He has been the coach in Lubbock for three seasons and he has a record of 76-31.
They will lose many key players from the 2018-19 squad, but they bring in many new faces who are good players who will help this team win. They have the 16th ranked recruiting class in the country according to 247sports which is headlined by top-100, four-star recruit Jahmius Ramsey.
The backcourt is the strength of this team though with guys such as Davide Moretti and Kyler Edwards set to return, but there is still a place for Gilder to have a big role if he decides to join. They have been willing to play smaller lineups and they have been very successful in doing so.
This is a basketball program that is on the rise, but the obvious selling point is the success of Matt Mooney and Tariq Owens as graduate transfers this past season. Those two both had fantastic seasons in a starting role on a Final Four team which is as good as you can ask for when you’re a graduate transfer.
The selling points for Texas Tech are clear. They are building an exciting program and Chris Beard has shown he is an elite coach in the game. The recent graduate transfer success should make Admon Gilder strongly consider becoming a Red Raider.
