Arkansas Basketball: 5 players who could be added to 2019-20 roster
4) Brandon Boyd (6’0″ 180 PG) – Idaho State
Brandon Boyd is an interesting name that has popped up frequently as a potential grad-transfer pick-up for Arkansas by way of Idaho State. The Razorbacks have three point-guards on their roster including returning starter Jalen Harris, promising back-up Desi Sills, and incoming freshman Justice Hill. This has led to speculation that one of the trio may soon find their way into the transfer portal.
At any rate, Boyd has listed Arkansas amongst his favorites on a list that also includes Washington State and Cal Baptist. He has been a quality scoring threat at Idaho State, averaging over a dozen points per game for three straight seasons and accumulating over 1200 points thus-far in his career. This past year, he averaged 14.2 points and 3.6 assists per game and was named an Honorable Mention Big Sky performer.
Boyd is lightning quick with the ball and possesses sneaky athleticism. He likes to attack the rim and does a nice job of drawing contact and cashing in at the free throw line. One area of concern is his outside shooting which has dropped from nearly 40% his freshman year to 29% this past season.
If Boyd does wind up at Arkansas next season, he will need to rediscover his touch from beyond the arc and focus heavier on distributing as SEC defenses will prove more challenging to slash and score on in the paint.
