Top Bench Players

Name: Kyle Ahrens

Year: Senior

Position: Small Forward

Projected 6th Man

The question will be if Ahrens can have a full healthy season. He has shown and demonstrated leadership and toughness this past season. He is also a talented player who has good size and height and if he stayed healthy this season, more would know it. He can shoot the ball pretty well and he defend more taller and strong wing players. He could easily be named a captain for next season as well as start some games as he did last season. On the high-end, he ends up playing high quality minutes like Kenny Goins did this past season. It all depends on if he stays healthy but if he does, he can easily contribute in big ways as Matt McQuaid did this past season.

Name: Gabe Brown

Year: Sophomore

Position: Shooting Guard

Projected 7th Man

Brown may see a big jump between the freshmen orientation to the sophomore coming out party.  He will have to compete for playing time but there will be games where he will play well and see starter minutes next season.  He is confident on the offensive end and he has the athleticism to improve as a defender. You could easily see coach Tom Izzo work with Brown a lot this off-season due to his potential to grow in year two of the program. When it is all said and done, Brown could have a future in the NBA similar to former Spartan Shannon Brown. The more playing time he gets, the better he will become.
