Scottie Barnes – Fort Lauderdale, FL

SF | 6-foot-8 | 210 lbs | No. 4 overall

One of the best athletes in the 2020 class, Scottie Barnes projects as a monster two-way player. At 6-foot-8 with top-notch quickness, he can burst to the basket in a hurry offensively while also boasting tremendous “switchability” on the other end. Although not a tremendous shooter from distance, he slashes extremely well and finishes above the rim. Barnes can also be an absolute terror in transition due to his high-level court vision and finishing.

On the EYBL circuit, Barnes is playing for Nightrydas Elite this season. Across the four opening games in Atlanta, he averaged 12.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. Although not his best set of games from a scoring perspective, he shot well over 50% from the field and flashed all of his playmaking abilities. With the rest of the EYBL season approaching, he should continue to assert himself in different ways.

Barnes’ recruitment, for the moment, remains relatively open as he recently cut his list to eight teams. Duke is certainly one of them and they will be competing with Cal, Florida State, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, Kansas, and Kentucky for his commitment. This is obviously one of the toughest recruiting battles in the country due to Barnes’ elite set of skills.
