2. Zion might be able to play with RJ Barrett

There is a lot that has to happen before this dream becomes reality, but it seems to be at least a somewhat likely scenario. New Orleans not only won the top pick, but they also have been discussing potential trades with two other teams in the top four.

Obviously, New Orleans has been working around a potential Anthony Davis trade. In an ideal scenario for Zion, the Pelicans can trade Davis to the Knicks and receive New York’s 3rd overall pick in this draft. If that happens, they could potentially draft Zion’s roommate and best friend RJ Barrett.

This is the only possible scenario that would pair Zion with his college teammate, and that is very special for him. They obviously have the chemistry from one season together in college. I’m sure Zion would like to have a familiar face in the New Orleans locker room.

Now, this is definitely far from reality. Many things would have to happen. Davis would have to confirm that he still doesn’t want to play with the Pelicans, then he would have to be traded before or during the draft specifically to the Knicks, and the Pelicans would then have to draft Barrett, assuming he is open. However, I think all of these options individually are the most likely scenario. They all just have to come together for this dream to come true.

Even with the Davis trade still up in the air, the possibility of playing with Zion’s former teammate should at least make him smile.
