6. LeVelle Moton

The MEAC conference is not a great conference when it comes to basketball and they are often outmatched when it comes to facing the bigger schools. North Carolina Central led by head coach LeVelle Moton have turned themselves into an annual NCAA tournament participant. Moton has been the coach of the Eagles since they made the transition to Division 1.

With four NCAA appearances in nine seasons at the helm, out of the MEAC conference the Eagles have reached the ceiling under Moton. There is not much the coach can still do at North Carolina Central, outside of winning an NCAA tournament game. Moton was rumored to be a finalist for the Georgia State earlier this season, that would be a step up from the MEAC. Moton is also coaching at his alma mater.

5. Russ Turner

Turner was a hot name among power five jobs this offseason. He ended up staying at UC-Irvine for another year at least. This season was the best season in Anteater history. They won 31 games and earned a victory in the NCAA tournament. Under Turner, the UC Irvine program made their first two NCAA tournaments in school history.

Turner was listed as one of the potential candidates for the Washington State opening. Turner spent a number of years as a NBA assistant and his style is appealing and will win at all levels. His NBA connections are going to help tremendously with recruiting. Turner will be a successful coach at every level he coaches at.
