Michael Beasley will go down as one of the best one-and-done players. In his wake, he put the Kansas State Wildcats on the map. Following in the steps of Big 12 sensation Kevin Durant, Beasley made a name for himself with his dominating play.

As the best shooter inside the 3-point line, Beasley shot 53.2 percent from the field, 56.2 percent from inside the arc during his lone season with the Wildcats from 2007-08. He averaged 26.2 points, 12.4 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.3 steals per contest en route to Big 12 Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year selections. Beasley ranks third among freshmen in total points in a season (866) dating back from 2006 until this past season.

With Beasley leading the way, Kansas State made their first NCAA Tournament appearance since the 1995-96 season. Since Beasley’s departure, they’ve made eight appearances in 11 seasons. Although they lost in the second round, Beasley went out with a bang, putting up 23 points and 13 rebounds in his final college game.

In the 2008 NBA Draft, Beasley was taken second overall by the Miami Heat. He made the All-Rookie first-team after producing 13.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game through 81 appearances with the Heat in 2008-09.

Since then, he’s had quite the journeyman career, though no matter where he goes, he finds his way into the rotation with his scoring ability. In 2018-19, he appeared in 26 games with the Los Angeles Lakers, producing 7.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game, before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He’s currently a free agent.
