NBA Draft: Top 25 one-and-done prospects of all-time
John Wall is one of the most coveted stars to play under head coach John Calipari with the Kentucky Wildcats. Alongside Eric Bledsoe, DeMarcus Cousins and Daniel Orton, Wall led one of the best runs in the NCAA Tournament, though it ended a bit early in the Elite Eight.
Wall led the Wildcats in scoring (16.6 ppg) and assists (6.5 apg) along with 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game as they posted a record of 35-3 overall on the season and 14-2 finish in SEC play. He won the SEC Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year award along with the Rupp Trophy, an award given annually to the top player in Division I college basketball until 2015.
Kentucky won the regular season conference crown and the conference tournament title en route to a No. 1 seed in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats lost to the West Virginia Mountaineers 73-66 in the Elite Eight, but it was just the beginning for Wall.
He was taken first overall in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards and made an impact right away. He was selected to First-Team All-Rookie during the 2010-11 season, putting up 16.4 points, 8.3 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals per contest
During the 2013-14, he made the first of five consecutive NBA All-Star appearances. In the past two seasons, injuries have slowed him down but for his career, he’s remained productive with the Wizards.
He’s averaged 19.0 points, 9.2 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game through 573 career games with Washington. His return from injury will mark a new era for the Wizards, as it’s hard to forget his body of work.
