NBA Draft: Top 25 one-and-done prospects of all-time
Versatile wing player Brandon Ingram is another Duke Blue Devil to make the list of best one-and-done prospects of all-time. It was only a few seasons ago that he graced the college basketball stage back in 2015-16, but his impact was made, despite such a short stint.
Ingram showed off his abilities with his 6-foot-9 frame on the wing all throughout his lone season with the Blue Devils, putting up 17.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals per game through 36 appearances. He finished the season shooting 41.0 percent from behind the arc and 44.3 percent from the field as a volume shooter of sorts.
In the NCAA Tournament, he really blossomed, as the Blue Devils earned a No. 4 seed. He produced games of 20 points and 25 points in the first two rounds against the UNC-Wilmington Seahawks and the Yale Bulldogs. In the Sweet 16, they lost to the Oregon Ducks 82-68, though Ingram finished the game with 24 points.
In the 2016 NBA Draft, he was taken by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick. He stumbled a bit in his first season, but still made All-Rookie honors, averaging 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest in 79 appearances.
In his second season, his production exploded. He put up 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, while shooting 39 percent from behind the arc during the 2017-18 season, showing why he was highly regarded in the 2016 draft class.
In 2018-19, he averaged 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game alongside newly acquired free agent LeBron James. However, Ingram’s season was cut short back on March 9 due to a blood condition called Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT). This caused him to miss the remainder of the season. When Ingram returns healthy, look for him to pick up where he left off.
