Build on the strong 2020 recruiting start.

Butler’s 2020 recruiting class is set up to be the best in program history. With Coach Jordan’s ability to develop relationships and land high-quality talent, coupled with plenty of scholarship openings, it seems likely that the Dawgs will land multiple top-100 players with a high ceiling to take the program back to the top of the Big East in the near future. Over the past few months, Butler has been linked to several top prospects and recruiting is definitely trending in the right direction.

Even though it is still quite early in the 2020 recruiting season, Coach Jordan has already landed an elite point guard prospect in Chuck Harris (No. 96). A hard-nosed defender, playmaker, and finisher with high-major talent written all over him, many expect that Harris will be the heir to the point guard position following Aaron Thompson’s graduation in two years. They are, at the moment, relatively similar players but Harris still has time to grow and his ceiling is higher, in my opinion.

In addition, there are quite a few other names that Butler has been tied to as of late. Perhaps most notably, the Dawgs seem to be in great shape to land Eugene Brown (No. 81), who visited earlier this month, and could be right in the thick of Scooby Johnson‘s (No. 106) recruitment as well. Other 2020 names on the radar seem to be Tyler Beard (No. 75), Santiago Vescovi (NR due to international status), and Nijel Pack (No. 213), among others.

Harris is obviously a tremendous commit for the program to build this class around. Given this, I wouldn’t be surprised if at least two more of the names mentioned above announce their intentions to play in Hinkle Fieldhouse in the near future. Coach Jordan knows how to recruit, and that will hopefully transition to consistent W’s on the court as a result.
