Sekou Doumbouya – SF France

The big thing with Doumbouya is his potential. He is a very raw prospect with a huge ceiling due to his athleticism. He is very good with the ball in his hands and his defense is one of his top traits. If you just look at stats you will not be wowed by any one of them, but he should be able to develop, maybe not into a superstar, but possibly into a solid player like Julius Randle for the Pelicans.

The Hornets the last few years have gone on to draft players with low floors but low ceilings as well, and well it has not worked. None of those players have been anything to write home about, but they all still have a roster spot somewhere. A player like Doumbouya would completely change that strategy.

Even if he does not change the team right away, and he shouldn’t, he would develop in year one and allow the Hornets another year of most likely a top five pick next year with a lot of guards in that class to possibly replace Kemba should he leave.

Next. Best/worst fit for each lottery pick. dark

Doumbouya would be the pick I made just off of potential, but he does have the ability to flop. At worst though I think he would end up being just like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
